On Tuesday, shares of Dell Technologies Inc. (DELL.US) advanced more than 5% to $563.49 apiece.
In recent market developments, Dell Chief Executive Officer Michael Dell addressed investors, indicating that the ongoing artificial intelligence boom is set to keep pushing up prices for computing equipment and personal computers. He also warned that the "structural shortage" of chips for hardware devices is likely to intensify further by 2027.
"Looking at all the factors combined, the chip supply deficit in 2027 will probably be even more severe than in 2026. Yes, costs are rising, and we intend to pass these additional expenses through to our product pricing," Dell stated.
