Kia America achieved its best-ever monthly sales in the United States during August, while Hyundai Motor experienced a dip in deliveries, according to data released on Wednesday. Kia sold 83,793 vehicles in the US last month, up 1% year-over-year, marking the highest single-month total in the company's history. Cumulative sales for the first eight months of the year also reached a record for that period, climbing 3% to 590,377 units.

The Sportage SUV emerged as Kia's top-selling model with 18,723 units delivered. This strong performance helped offset broader market challenges, with the automaker's lineup continuing to resonate with American consumers across its SUV and crossover segments.

Hyundai, however, saw its US sales fall 2% year-over-year to 86,977 vehicles in August, despite continued momentum in its hybrid lineup. Hybrid model sales surged 33% compared to the same month last year, setting a new August record for the brand. Among key models, the Palisade SUV posted an 18% year-over-year decline to 12,729 units, while the Ioniq electric vehicle series also registered softer demand. In contrast, the Tucson and Santa Fe SUVs both gained traction, with sales up 18% and 5%, respectively.
