Recently, at the Taidi Petrochemical Terminal in Huanghua Port, methyl tert-butyl ether produced by Hebei Kaiyi New Material Technology Co., Ltd. was being loaded onto a vessel. These goods are destined for countries including the Netherlands, Singapore, and Malaysia. "Since the first export of methyl tert-butyl ether was achieved from Huanghua Port last September, shipping from our doorstep has helped us significantly reduce logistics costs and enhance our international competitiveness," said You Tianwei, the company's business manager. The export of this chemical product exemplifies the increasing diversification of export cargo types and the continuous improvement of comprehensive service capabilities at Huanghua Port.
In the first half of this year, the port handled 34,200 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of foreign trade container throughput, an 84% increase year-on-year. Of this total, 21,000 TEUs were exported, representing a substantial 248% growth. Major export products include fertilizers, chemical raw materials, and distinctive agricultural and food products. The port's foreign trade cargo business is showing a positive trend of steady growth and enhanced quality and efficiency, further strengthening its regional influence.
As a convenient maritime gateway for the Xiong'an New Area and a crucial portal for opening up in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Cangzhou has been actively expanding Huanghua Port's international shipping market. Efforts are focused on continuously improving route networks, optimizing customs clearance procedures, and boosting deep-sea cargo handling capacity, thereby accelerating the movement of foreign trade containers and injecting strong momentum into the region's open economy.
A dense network of shipping routes provides a fast channel for containers to flow overseas. Leveraging the Northern (Cangzhou) Cross-Border E-commerce Logistics Base, an increasing volume of goods is being shipped worldwide from Huanghua Port. Currently, the port has opened over 20 international shipping routes, connecting to destinations in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Los Angeles in the United States, South Korea, Japan, and other regions.
While developing its international shipping services, Huanghua Port is also refining its collection and distribution system, forming a multimodal transport pattern integrating "railway + highway + port." This allows cargo from the hinterland to be quickly consolidated at the port, enabling immediate shipment upon arrival.
"This year, Hebei Port Group also plans to launch direct shipping routes from Huanghua Port to Australia or South America. Simultaneously, we will organize cross-border logistics enterprises to conduct in-depth cooperation with inland ports in regions such as Yinchuan, Xi'an, and Baotou, facilitating the export of goods like Yinchuan wine via Huanghua Port," said a relevant person in charge of the Northern (Cangzhou) Cross-Border E-commerce Logistics Base.
Efficient customs clearance models are another key measure driving the increase in export cargo volume at Huanghua Port. Currently, goods shipped from the port can undergo "inspection prior to loading." The entire inspection process for cargo can be completed at the Northern (Cangzhou) Cross-Border E-commerce Logistics Base. Once qualified, goods are directly containerized, sealed with electronic locks, and upon arrival at the terminal, can utilize a green channel for rapid loading onto vessels. This significantly enhances cargo clearance efficiency and provides greater flexibility for the base in scheduling shipments.
"Since the implementation of the new model, our customs clearance time has been reduced by over 20%, and logistics costs have been cut by approximately 10%. We no longer have to worry about missing shipping schedules," said a manager from a foreign trade enterprise in Cangzhou.
