Quantum Computing said on Tuesday that it has shipped its first commercial entangled photon source as it looks to bring the nascent technology to the world.
Quantum computing stocks jumped in morning trading on Wednesday. Arqit Quantum rose 22%; Quantum Computing rose 5%; Rigetti Computing and SEALSQ rose 1%.
The order was placed by a South Korean research institution and is a milestone in pushing quantum technologies from the lab to commercial markets, Quantum Computing said.
“Our entangled photon sources are an integral part of our quantum cybersecurity platform, which was recognized with the Edison Award in 2024,” said Quantum Computing's Chief Technology Dr. Yong Meng Sua in a statement. “We're excited to now deliver this technology to global users who are working to shape the future of quantum communication.”
“This is a foundational product for our quantum communications roadmap, with this shipment to Korea demonstrating clear execution and reach of our strategy in servicing the versatile quantum market,” Quantum's Chief Revenue Officer Dr. Pouya Dianat added. “This shipment demonstrates growing market interest in integrated quantum systems, and we are excited to offer a commercially available, high-performance entangled photon source as part of our differentiated, innovative technology portfolio.”
