South Korea's benchmark Kospi index climbed as much as 2.8% in early trading, marking its third consecutive session of gains, fueled by a strong revenue outlook from Nvidia that boosted sentiment across the semiconductor sector.
Leading the index's advance were heavyweight chipmakers, with SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics, and SK Square contributing the most to the upward move. Foreign investors were net buyers of Kospi shares during the morning session, while local institutional funds were sellers.
The junior Kosdaq index also rose, gaining up to 1.1%, as the positive momentum from the global tech sector spilled over into smaller domestic stocks.
