On November 20, at the 2025 Quantum Technology and Industry Conference, Hefei Guizhen Chip Technology Co., Ltd., an integrated photonic quantum chip company, unveiled the world's first universal programmable quantum computer based on silicon photonic integrated chips.

The system uses photons as quantum bit carriers and integrates photonic chips as its core, achieving independent R&D of key components. Accessible via cloud platforms, it significantly reduces operational complexity and costs, providing a practical pathway for quantum computing to transition from lab research to industrial applications.

Currently, the device offers 4-qubit physical resources suitable for experimental validation in small-to-medium-scale quantum computing scenarios. It achieves single-qubit and two-qubit quantum state fidelity rates of 99.7% and 99.4% respectively, ensuring reliable computational results. The system supports visual programming and cloud platform interface access, enabling users to customize algorithms and deploy services for specific scenarios—even non-specialist teams can quickly execute computing tasks. Potential applications include strategic optimization, artificial intelligence, simulation analysis, and information security.

The photonic quantum computer consists of three core components—entangled photon sources, integrated photonic quantum computing chips, and photonic quantum chip control systems—all independently developed by Guizhen. This marks a major upgrade following the company's 2024 recognition for developing Hefei's first major technological equipment in photonic quantum computing systems.

Public records indicate Guizhen's technology originates from the research team of Academician Guo Guangcan at the University of Science and Technology of China, with shareholders including Origin Quantum and National Chip Technology. In May this year, Guizhen secured tens of millions in funding from Vertex Ventures to accelerate its photonic quantum computing development.
