Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region Releases 7 Jointly Developed Metrology Technical Standards

Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei's market regulatory authorities have jointly issued seven metrology technical standards, covering areas such as air pollution control, water quality monitoring, and public utility measurements.

Addressing the industry challenge of lacking unified calibration standards for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) monitoring equipment, the three regions pioneered the "Calibration Specification for Photoionization Online Monitors of Volatile Organic Compounds." This new regulation fills a critical gap in performance evaluation standards for such instruments in China, providing precise data support for coordinated air pollution prevention and control.

In the gas metering sector, which impacts millions of households, the "Calibration Specification for Gas Meter Verification Devices" introduced a "modular integrated calibration" approach. The standard ensures accuracy in gas meter verification by standardizing calibration processes at the source, safeguarding public interests.

Through a "shared stock, joint development" mechanism for metrology technical standards, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has achieved mutual recognition and sharing of 413 metrology standards, fostering regional collaboration in measurement technology.

"Currently, we are developing additional joint standards, such as those for medical temperature alarms and fetal heart simulators, to support high-quality development in healthcare," a relevant official stated.
