Wuzhou Bureau of China Southern Power Grid Ultra-High Voltage Company: Digital Intelligence Drives Warehouse Reform

Deep News
2025/11/14

In recent years, the Wuzhou Bureau of China Southern Power Grid Ultra-High Voltage Company (hereinafter referred to as "Wuzhou Bureau") has leveraged digital transformation to focus on modern logistics system development, implementing the company's "regionalized warehousing" and "market-oriented logistics" management concepts, achieving significant progress in intelligent warehousing.

The Wuzhou Bureau oversees 17 major power transmission channels under China Southern Power Grid's "Eight AC and Nine DC" initiative, spanning Guangdong, Hunan, and Guangxi. Previously, the bureau faced inefficiencies due to a scattered and expansive jurisdiction, hindering operational maintenance. In May 2025, the bureau established an intelligent warehousing system by integrating IoT, big data, and AI technologies, supported by a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Control System (WCS). This replicable "smart warehousing" system has achieved 100% traceable inventory accuracy, full-process operation records, and a ninefold year-on-year improvement in inventory optimization.

On one hand, the Wuzhou Bureau aligned with the company's guidelines for unmanned warehouse construction, deploying 14 sets of loading, unloading, and container equipment alongside 37 sets of emergency and auxiliary tools. With smart sensors and AI algorithms, the bureau reduced monthly workloads—such as handling, picking, and inventory checks—from 70 hours to just 3 hours, boosting efficiency by 23 times.

On the other hand, the intelligent system incorporates digital tracking via smart access control, video surveillance, and alarms, enabling precise material positioning and adaptive solutions. Shifting from a "registration-heavy, management-light" static approach to a "process- and efficiency-focused" dynamic model has improved inbound/outbound efficiency by 3 to 5 times.

Additionally, the bureau uses smart warehousing as a pivot to enhance full-chain coordination, integrating with grid management platforms to optimize material turnover. Post-implementation, the bureau has conducted 1,417 precise inventory audits, processed five batches of scrapped items (115 project materials), and extended average equipment retirement cycles to 17.06 years—a 22.4% year-on-year increase, ranking among the company's top-performing units.
