Data from the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA) released on Wednesday reveals that the US electric vehicle maker Tesla Motors maintained its position as South Korea's best-selling imported passenger car brand for the sixth straight month in July.

According to the association, new registrations of imported passenger cars totaled 30,976 units last month, marking a 14.3% increase year-over-year. Tesla Motors led the market with sales of 10,237 vehicles, a position it has held since February.

BMW took second place with 6,533 units sold, followed by Mercedes-Benz with 3,959 units, while BYD secured fourth place with 2,846 units. The Tesla Motors Model Y became the best-selling imported model in July, with 8,705 units sold.

Driven by strong demand for electric vehicles from brands like Tesla Motors and BYD, EVs accounted for nearly half of all imported passenger car registrations in July, totaling 15,428 units.
