Shares of Willis Towers Watson (WTW) surged 7.45% in pre-market trading on Thursday, after the insurance broker reported second-quarter results that handily beat analyst expectations and unveiled a series of shareholder-friendly moves.

The company posted adjusted earnings of $3.35 per share, up 17% from a year earlier and comfortably above the consensus estimate of $3.12. Revenue rose 9% to $2.47 billion, driven by an 11% jump in its Risk & Broking segment and an 8% increase in the Health, Wealth & Career unit. Adjusted operating margin came in at 19.5%, reflecting improved profitability.

Adding to the positive momentum, WTW’s board approved a $1.5 billion increase to its share repurchase program, bringing total authorization to $2 billion. The company also announced its “Propel” AI initiative, targeting approximately 30% adjusted operating margin by 2028 and $400 million in run-rate savings, while maintaining its full-year 2026 guidance.
