Overseas bonds beyond the US attract Morgan Stanley Asset Management, with UK short-term notes as top pick

Morgan Stanley Asset Management has expressed a preference for bonds outside the United States, citing uncertainty surrounding the Federal Reserve and economic data. This stance was shared on August 13.

Iain Stealey, the international fixed income investment director at Morgan Stanley Asset Management, stated in a Bloomberg Television interview that the firm leans towards purchasing short-term European bonds, with a particular emphasis on UK debt. Stealey believes the Bank of England is not in a hurry to raise interest rates.

He also favors emerging markets where real yields are high, suggesting that, given the policy performance of these central banks over the past few years, they could even be considered more credible. In the Japanese market, Stealey prefers a yield curve flattening trading strategy.
