When questioned by reporters on whether the Justice Department should continue a criminal investigation into Jerome Powell, President Trump stated that the cost issues surrounding the Federal Reserve building's construction stemmed from either "extreme incompetence" or "theft."

"He is either incompetent, or he himself, or certain people, are swindlers," Trump said of Powell.
