MMG Resumes Las Bambas Mine and Processing Operations Following 18 August Fatalities in Peru

MMG Limited announced that mining and processing activities at its Las Bambas operation in Peru restarted on 21 August 2026, three days after a fatal incident on 18 August resulted in the deaths of employees Richard José Flores Rhea and Tony Nilson González Challa.

The company reiterated its condolences and confirmed that support measures remain in place for the victims’ families, colleagues, and friends. No further operational or financial details were disclosed in the filing.

The voluntary announcement was signed by Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Zhao Jing Ivo on behalf of the Board. As of 24 August 2026, the Board consists of nine directors: two executive directors (Zhao Jing Ivo and Qian Song), three non-executive directors (Zhang Shuqiang, Cao Liang—Chairman, and Yue Wenjun), and four independent non-executive directors (Dr Peter William Cassidy, Leung Cheuk Yan, Chan Ka Keung, Peter, and Chen Ying).

The statement was released as a voluntary disclosure to the Hong Kong market and emphasizes MMG’s commitment to safety and operational continuity at its flagship Peruvian asset.
