A rally in US futures helped the Australian sharemarket advance at the open while investors eagerly await news of the US-China negotiations over tariffs.
The S&P/ASX 200 Index rose 0.3 per cent, or 27.8 points, in the first 5 minutes of trade. The All Ordinaries also rose 0.3 per cent. Ten of 11 sectors were in the green, with real estate and mining stocks leading gains.
Investors will be watching the outcome of the negotiations on Monday after senior US and Chinese representatives met in Switzerland over the weekend. US officials have said they would provide an update on Monday.
