Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced the "2025 5G Factory Directory," with 560 projects across 48 industries selected. Seven factories from Changsha made the list: Sunward 5G Factory, Zoomlion Concrete Machinery 5G Smart Factory, Sinoboom Intelligent Manufacturing City 5G Factory, SANY Intelligent Connected Heavy Truck 5G Factory, ZTE Changsha 5G Fully-Connected Factory, Hengmao Information Network Communication Equipment 5G Factory, and China Electronics Technology Group Corporation Surface Mount 5G Factory, representing a significant increase compared to previous years.
According to the "5G Fully-Connected Factory Construction Guidelines," a 5G fully-connected factory fully utilizes next-generation information and communication technologies represented by 5G to create new industrial internet infrastructure. It involves newly building or renovating production sites at production line, workshop, and factory levels, forming advanced factories with widespread connection of production units, deep integration of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT), full utilization of data elements, and efficient empowerment through innovative applications.
Specifically, the selected Changsha factories are concentrated in three major industries: specialized equipment manufacturing, automobile manufacturing, and computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing. They collectively demonstrate outstanding characteristics of being technology-intensive, highly intelligent, and having strong industrial collaboration. These factories, based on 5G full connectivity, deeply integrate industrial internet, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing technologies, achieving real-time perception, intelligent scheduling, and precise control of production processes, representing Changsha's leading level and core competitiveness in intelligent manufacturing and digital transformation.
Zoomlion Concrete Machinery 5G Smart Factory, included in this list, is one of the main equipment parks of Zoomlion Smart Industrial City. In terms of 5G applications, the factory is based on Zoomlion's independently developed national-level "dual-cross" platform—the Zhongke Cloud Valley Industrial Internet Platform—and has built an overall application architecture for intelligent manufacturing, achieving end-to-end digital connectivity throughout the entire process and upgrading to new applications of intelligent, efficient, and precise production. Meanwhile, utilizing 5G network infrastructure and the ultra-high uplink and downlink bandwidth and low latency characteristics of 5G, it supports eight key business scenarios.
For example, based on the high bandwidth and low latency characteristics of 5G networks, in the production stage, through independently developed welding adaptive AI models combined with master welding data, historical welding points are parameterized and welding parameters for the next welding point are derived and promptly sent to welding machines, improving overall weld penetration to 80%. In material distribution scenarios, based on multi-intelligent agent equipment and integrating 5G networks with autonomous perception, collaborative control, and cluster scheduling technologies, an autonomous real-time logistics transportation system is constructed, achieving fully automated distribution throughout the factory, with material distribution beat satisfaction reaching 99%.
Similarly selected Hengmao Information Network Communication Equipment 5G Factory has also leveraged 5G technology to improve enterprise production efficiency and management levels. "Daily production line conditions can receive precise feedback, helping us timely improve processes and enhance product quality. After the 5G+ after-sales management application scenario went online, our company's after-sales management sector was optimized, with after-sales inventory levels dropping 81% and operating costs reduced by 15%," praised Lan Yu, head of Hengmao Information's Enterprise Information Center.
"Through the industrial internet platform, we have rediscovered the value of data," Lan Yu analyzed in front of the data dashboard, using the "defect commonality real-time status" module as an example. "For production problems reflected in data analysis, we can dig deep into underlying causes, forming a closed-loop improvement process that assists in achieving improvements in quality, cost, delivery, and other aspects."
It is understood that since 2023, MIIT has conducted 5G factory selection for three consecutive years, deeply promoting "5G + Industrial Internet" innovation and development, having cumulatively selected over 1,000 5G factories, effectively driving the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries.
