Qatar has restarted transporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) through the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since an attack on an LNG carrier in the waterway over three weeks ago.

According to vessel tracking data, the LNG tanker Al Areesh had remained in the Persian Gulf since loading cargo at the Ras Laffan export facility in early July. The ship, with its transponder activated, has now crossed the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Gulf of Oman as of Thursday morning local time. The vessel's signals indicate its next destination is Pakistan.

This move suggests that QatarEnergy may be resuming LNG shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. It could also pave the way for the company to ramp up production at its facility, which is the world's largest LNG export terminal. The expansion plans were previously halted following the attack.
