Since the comprehensive completion of the Guangshen Railway's quality improvement project and the implementation of the new operating schedule in November this year, the railway has facilitated a cumulative total of 3.26 million passenger trips between Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Shenzhen. Following the upgrade, the maximum operating speed of the electric multiple unit (EMU) trains on the Guangshen Railway has been increased from 160 km/h to 200 km/h. The fastest travel time between Shenzhen and Guangzhou East Station has been reduced to 56 minutes, an improvement of 6.7% compared to before. This upgrade enables a precise "one-hour commuting circle" connecting Guangzhou's Tianhe CBD with Shenzhen's Futian CBD and Luohu District. Train frequency has also been intensified concurrently, with the average daily number of EMU trains increasing by 27 compared to pre-upgrade levels. A train now departs on average every 13 minutes, with the shortest interval during peak hours being just 5 minutes. Services have been further increased at stations such as Guangzhou North and Guangzhou Xintang. To cater to frequent commuters, Guangshen Railway has introduced 30-day/60-trip periodic ticket products, offering discounts of up to 38%. Since the upgrade, nearly 1,500 periodic ticket products have been sold, with the 30-day/10-trip option being the most popular. The flexible policy for single-journey tickets, allowing them to be "valid all day," has been continued, enabling passengers to board any train on the day of travel at any of the 9 stations, including Shenzhen Station, Dongguan Station, and Guangzhou East Station. Post-upgrade, 46 daily EMU train services run from Guangzhou East Station to Futian Station on the Guangshen Railway line, achieving a direct "point-to-point" connection between the two CBDs. This eliminates the need for secondary transfers between urban and suburban areas, saving passengers at least 30 minutes in transfer time compared to previous arrangements. Data shows that the Guangshen Railway covers 14 stations across Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Shenzhen, providing station coverage for 36.8% of the districts (towns). Guangzhou East Station handles an average of 131 train stops daily, ensuring convenient travel from Guangzhou's city center. Guangzhou Xintang Station accommodates an average of 97 stops daily, further aggregating intercity transfer passenger flow within the Pearl River Delta. Shenzhen and Futian stations handle averages of 70 and 18 stops daily respectively, connecting passenger flows from Shenzhen's city center and Hong Kong.
