Tesla's insurance registrations in China last week were down 57.89 percent from the previous week's 7,290 units.
Major electric vehicle (EV) makers saw a mixed performance in insurance registrations in China last week.
For the week of May 5-11 -- week 19 of 2025 -- Nio (NYSE: NIO) branded vehicles saw 3,930 insurance registrations in China, up 13.26 percent from 3,470 the week before, according to figures shared by several automotive industry watchers on Weibo today.
Nio's sub-brand Onvo had 1,660 insurance registrations last week, up 29.69 percent from 1,280 in the previous week.
Nio's other sub-brand Firefly had 470 insurance registrations last week, up 34.29 percent from 350 the previous week.
Firefly launched its first model on April 19 and deliveries began on April 29.

Nio Inc delivered 23,900 vehicles in April, its second highest ever, behind 31,138 in December last year, according to figures it announced on May 1.
The Nio brand delivered 19,269 vehicles in April, up 23.36 percent year-on-year and up 88.56 percent from March.
Onvo delivered 4,400 vehicles in April, down 8.71 percent from 4,820 in March.
Firefly delivered 231 vehicles in April. Its effective delivery days in April were April 29 and April 30.
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) had 3,070 insurance registrations in China last week, down 57.89 percent from 7,290 the previous week.
The US EV maker has a plant in Shanghai that makes the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, both for deliveries to local customers and as an export hub for it.
Tesla sold 28,731 vehicles in China's domestic market in April, down 8.56 percent from 31,421 in the same month a year ago and down 61.24 percent from 74,127 in March, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Its Shanghai plant exported 29,728 vehicles in April, down 3.31 percent from 30,746 a year earlier while up 532.38 percent from 4,701 in March.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) had 6,870 insurance registrations last week, up 23.78 percent from 5,550 the week before.
The company delivered 35,045 vehicles in April, the second highest on record behind December 2024's 36,695 units.
That's the sixth consecutive month that Xpeng's monthly deliveries have been above the 30,000 mark, up 273.10 percent year-on-year and up 5.54 percent from March.
Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) had 8,160 insurance registrations last week, down 28.42 percent from the previous week's 11,400 units.
It delivered 33,939 vehicles in April, up 31.61 percent from 25,787 a year ago but down 7.46 percent from 36,674 in March.
BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) brand vehicles had 67,980 insurance registrations last week, up 14.62 percent from 59,310 the week before.
The company sold 380,089 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in April, up 21.34 percent year-on-year and up 0.71 percent from March.
Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) had 5,180 insurance registrations last week, down 8.96 percent from 5,690 the week before.
Xiaomi's EV unit, Xiaomi EV, announced on May 1 that it delivered over 28,000 units in April.
The Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) brand had 4,310 insurance registrations last week, up 39.94 percent from 3,080 the week before.
The Zeekr brand delivered 13,727 vehicles in April, down 14.68 percent year-on-year and down 10.99 percent from March.
Including Lynk & Co deliveries, the Zeekr Group delivered 41,316 vehicles in April, up 1.48 percent from 40,715 in March.
Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) had 7,800 insurance registrations last week, up 25.20 percent from 6,230 the week before.
It delivered 41,039 units in April, its second highest ever behind December 2024's 42,517 units.
The monthly delivery was up 173.50 percent from 15,005 a year ago and up 10.63 percent from 37,095 in March.
Aito -- a brand jointly created by Huawei and Seres Group -- had 7,540 insurance registrations last week, up 12.87 percent from 6,680 the previous week.
