A seemingly ordinary "new hire announcement" is becoming the latest trend in the robotics industry.

On November 26, Lu Zeyu, an engineer who participated in the development of Tesla's Optimus dexterous hand, publicly announced on social media that he had joined Xiaomi's robotics team as the "Head of Dexterous Hand Development."

His resume clearly states that during his time at Tesla, he was deeply involved in the R&D of core modules such as tactile sensors, dexterous grasping, and structural design. This career move quickly drew attention within the industry.

Prior to this, according to his LinkedIn profile, he had already been working at Xiaomi for over two months, though the announcement was only made public recently.

The bigger picture is that Xiaomi's robotics team is currently in a rare expansion phase. Research shows that Xiaomi Robotics has multiple job openings on Kanzhun Limited, covering key R&D areas such as embodied intelligence algorithms, simulation algorithms, system frameworks, and vision systems. Many positions offer monthly salaries ranging from 40k to 70k, targeting the most sought-after core robotics talent in China.

Lu Zeyu's public onboarding highlights an industry trend of "attracting top engineers like collecting stamps." Since the beginning of this year, Xiaomi has been active in the field of embodied intelligence—open-sourcing the MiMo-Embodied large model while continuously recruiting highly recognizable engineering professionals to build a more robust R&D team.
