Data released by Kunming Customs indicates that during the initial eight months of 2026, Yunnan's import volume of fruit from ASEAN nations reached 910,000 tons, valued at 16.22 billion yuan, marking year-on-year increases of 31.2% and 35.8%, respectively. This accounted for 18% of the national import volume and 24.3% of the total value of such imports from ASEAN.
The imported fruits, primarily sourced from Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, included fresh durians, mangosteens, longans, bananas, pomelos, and dragon fruit. Among these, fresh durian imports totaled 483,000 tons with a value of 13.52 billion yuan, showing significant growth of 55.9% in volume and 43.3% in value compared to the previous year.
To streamline the movement of agricultural products during peak freight seasons, Kunming Customs has introduced a pilot "green passage" clearance model at the Tianbao port specifically for perishable goods. This system ensures real-time update of anomaly notifications, expedited issuance of inspection reports, and automatic data transfer, which collectively accelerates customs processing and expands trade capacity. According to Tianbao Customs data, fruit imports through this port in the first eight months of this year reached 161,600 tons, representing a 53.5% increase from the same period last year.
