Residents in Yunhe District, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, are enjoying improved day care services as the district's disciplinary inspection commission strengthens oversight of elderly care.
"The day care station at our doorstep now offers increasingly comprehensive services, from meals and leisure to physiotherapy and health care. It's convenient and heartwarming," said Li Guiqi, a 72-year-old resident, during a follow-up visit by staff from the Yunhe District Discipline Inspection and Supervision Commission after the Yuhe Community Day Care Station was officially put into operation.
Since 2026, the Yunhe District Discipline Inspection and Supervision Commission has deepened and solidified special governance in the elderly care service sector, closely monitoring public concerns such as the imbalance between supply and demand for home and community elderly care services, insufficient resource supply, and uneven service quality. The commission has incorporated the construction and operation of community day care stations for the elderly into key oversight content, pushing functional departments to fulfill their duties, optimize the allocation of elderly care resources, and continuously improve service quality and efficiency.
Currently, seven demonstration community day care stations for the elderly in the district have innovatively implemented a new integrated development model combining "medical care, rehabilitation, elderly care, and nursing." They integrate health management, rehabilitation physiotherapy, and chronic disease intervention into day care services, effectively supporting a happy old age for the elderly.
At present, the seven day care stations in Yunhe District, Cangzhou City, regularly provide basic elderly care services including meal assistance, bathing assistance, and medical assistance under the "six assistance" framework, comprehensively safeguarding the daily needs of seniors. Since starting operations in June this year, they have received over 29,000 visits from elderly individuals, provided 2,323 instances of basic elderly care services, offered 933 physiotherapy sessions and 820 rehabilitation sessions, completed 3,217 meal orders, and launched multiple personalized life service packages.
At the same time, they have enriched diversified elderly care service offerings by regularly conducting public welfare clinics, electrocardiogram screenings, health lectures, and other health services, serving over 1,100 people in total. They have also innovatively carried out more than 30 special activities such as handicraft experiences, group birthday parties, and cultural and sports performances, achieving precise and convenient service guarantees, meticulous and reassuring daily care, and warm and heartfelt spiritual comfort, driving the transformation from traditional elderly care to quality elderly care.
With medical and elderly care integration in place, how is service quality guaranteed? The Yunhe District Discipline Inspection and Supervision Commission adheres to the integrated advancement of "supervision plus governance." While promoting medical and elderly care integration, it urges the Yunhe District Civil Affairs Bureau to issue the "Management Measures for Entrusted Operation of Community Day Care Centers (Stations) for the Elderly in Yunhe District," which clearly stipulates operator access, service standards, asset management, production safety, and regular oversight, placing a "tightening band" on the standardized operation of day care centers.
Next, Yunhe District, Cangzhou City, will continue to use precise supervision to solve elderly care challenges, persistently promote the quality improvement, expansion, and iterative upgrading of community elderly care services, enabling seniors to enjoy a warm old age at their doorstep and truly delivering tangible livelihood benefits to the hearts of the people.
