Jinchuan Group International Resources Co. Ltd (“Jinchuan Int’l”) released its unaudited operational update for the six months ended 30 June 2026.
Copper production rose to 38,214 t, up 36.9% year-on-year from 27,904 t. The increase stemmed mainly from Musonoi Mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which entered commercial operation in November 2025. Gains were partially offset by lower output at Ruashi Mine, where power-supply instability, declining ore grade and acid-plant maintenance curtailed production.
Cobalt production surged to 4,345 t from 71 t a year earlier, reflecting Musonoi’s high cobalt grade of about 1%, compared with Ruashi’s historical average of roughly 0.3%.
Copper sales climbed 38.5% to 36,083 t (1H 2025: 26,050 t). Cobalt sales reached 349 t, versus no sales in the prior-year period. Management attributed the gap between cobalt produced and sold to pending export-quota approval from the DRC government for Musonoi Mine.
Trading in Jinchuan Int’l shares has been suspended since 28 March 2025 and remains halted until further notice. Shareholders and potential investors are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the company’s securities.
