As of the end of 2025, a total of 14,900 intangible cultural heritage workshops have been established across the country, driving employment and income growth for over 1.3 million individuals. This information was disclosed at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on the morning of September 7.

Intangible cultural heritage serves as a vivid testament to the continuous heritage of Chinese civilization. At the conference, Shan Gangxin, Director of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Department under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, stated that the scientific and rational utilization of these cultural assets, alongside their contemporary value, is a key source of revitalization for intangible heritage and a driving force behind industrial development.

Shan Gangxin specifically highlighted the willow weaving craft of Linyi, Shandong Province. He explained that the craft has evolved from making traditional baskets to producing fashionable heritage-inspired toys and creative products like cat trees. The Linyi willow weaving industry now boasts a product system with over 300 patents and more than 20,000 product varieties, and through e-commerce platforms, its goods are sold to over 80 countries and regions overseas.

Additionally, numerous other heritage projects across China, such as the batik art in Danzhai, Guizhou, and the purple clay pottery in Jianshui, Yunnan, have formed workshop clusters. These initiatives are transforming local cultural industries from traditional handcraft skills into economic opportunities, providing a competitive advantage for enriching local communities and benefiting the people.
