MEDBOT-B shares surge over 4% intraday; UOB Kay Hian initiates coverage with 'Buy'

MEDBOT-B (02252) saw its share price rise more than 4% during intraday trading. As of the time of writing, the stock was up 3.25%, trading at HKD 24.12, with a turnover of HKD 59.35 million.

Recently, MEDBOT-B issued a profit alert, forecasting a net profit of between RMB 28 million and RMB 40 million for the first half of the year. This compares to a loss of RMB 115 million in the same period last year, marking the company's first-ever half-yearly profit. Revenue is expected to increase by approximately 200% to 230% year-on-year, estimated to be between RMB 527 million and RMB 580 million. The company's key product, the Toumai robot, saw overseas revenue grow by more than 450%, while the overall gross margin improved by over 15 percentage points.

UOB Kay Hian has released a research report stating that MEDBOT-B, founded in 2015, possesses the industry's most comprehensive portfolio of surgical robots, covering applications in laparoscopy, orthopedics, vascular, and urology. Its flagship systems, including Toumai and Skywalker, have already received market approval in China and the European Union. The brokerage firm has initiated coverage on the stock with a 'Buy' rating and a target price of HKD 29.
