On February 24, Great Wall Motor Chairman Wei Jianjun posted a video on Weibo discussing his short film "Stay or Leave in Life," which was released on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year. He expressed that reading viewers' comments had deeply moved him. Reflecting on the dilemma many face when drifting in big cities, Wei remarked, "I have also experienced such confusion and struggle—something many may not know."

He recalled that his first job was as a lathe operator in a workshop at Beijing's Tongxian Micro-Motor Factory. "In today's terms, I was an old-time 'Beijing drifter,'" he said. Later, he chose to give up his Beijing household registration and return to his hometown, Baoding, to start a business. "While many strive to move to big cities, I returned to my hometown at the most daring age. It wasn’t all smooth sailing in Baoding either—I worked at a local carpet factory, started my own ventures, and ran a water pump factory. Step by step, through trial and error, I eventually made the water pump business quite successful."

Wei mentioned that an opportunity arose when he was 26: Great Wall Motor. "At that time, we had no money, no people, and no technology, but I loved cars—that’s what kept me going," he shared. He admitted, "There has never been a standard answer to life’s questions, and no path is easy."

In closing, he offered encouragement to young people: "Although times have changed, youth remains your greatest asset. Life is vast—why fear making mistakes? Every step forward, every hardship endured, and every challenge overcome will ultimately become your strongest foundation. Wishing you success as work resumes—let’s keep striving together."

Previously, on February 22, Wei released the short film "Stay or Leave in Life," urging young people to embrace life’s breadth and not shy away from trial and error. As long as you identify your direction and press forward with determination, that in itself is the answer.
