Daimler Truck has maintained its full-year financial guidance, supported by a significant surge in orders during the first quarter and expectations of continued performance improvement.

Shares of Daimler Truck (DTG) rose 1.01%. The company affirmed its existing outlook, driven by a strong recovery in the U.S. market that led to substantial order growth in the quarter. It anticipates that momentum in the U.S. will continue to boost overall performance in subsequent quarters.

The German truck and bus manufacturer reported the following: New orders for its North American truck business increased 86% year-over-year, while orders for Mercedes-Benz trucks rose 33%. Globally, total new orders grew 50% compared to the same period last year.

Chief Executive Karin Radström stated, "Despite a challenging external environment in the first quarter, we have a solid foundation for continued positive development throughout the year."

First-quarter figures: Global truck sales totaled 68,849 units, down from 75,758 units in the prior-year period. Revenue from its core industrial business declined 14% to €9.14 billion (equivalent to $10.69 billion). The sales return rate fell to 5.0% from 9.6% a year earlier. Adjusted EBIT decreased to €498 million from €1.08 billion.

Full-year guidance remains unchanged. The company expects: Full-year industrial business revenue in the range of €42 billion to €46 billion. Adjusted sales return rate between 6% and 8%. Adjusted EBIT between €3.2 billion and €3.7 billion.

The company also noted that potential impacts from the Middle East conflict on supply chains and energy prices cannot yet be reliably assessed and have therefore not been factored into the current outlook.
