Stock markets in Japan and South Korea opened lower in today's trading session.

The Nikkei 225 index commenced trading down 0.4% at 69,460.08 points.

Meanwhile, the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) opened with a more pronounced decline of 1.6%, starting at 7,919.20 points.

Shares of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. were notably lower, falling 3% at the open.

This drop follows the company's recent announcement of its second-quarter operating profit, which reached 89.40 trillion won, representing a substantial year-over-year increase of 1810%.

This result surpassed analyst estimates, which had projected a figure of approximately 84.2 trillion won.
