At the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the 2026 Dalian Summer Davos Forum, held in Dalian on June 23, Chen Jiehui, Chairman of Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical Group, shared his insights. He noted that while technological revolutions may cause short-term disruptions, they typically lead to industrial revolutions and structural shifts in skill demands over the medium to long term.

Chen highlighted the Guangdong provincial government's "Million Talents Converge in South Guangdong" action plan, which aims to attract one million university graduates for employment annually. Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. is actively participating in this initiative, having already signed agreements with Peking University and Tsinghua University to recruit 11 recent graduates this year, with plans to expand its talent search globally. He believes such coordinated planning effectively balances supply and demand in the job market.

Chen revealed that Baiyunshan is fully embracing AI technology, integrating it deeply across research and development, manufacturing, supply chain, and sales. As a company traditionally focused on traditional Chinese medicine and generic drugs, the group is leveraging AI to transition towards innovative drug development.

He pointed out that AI technology has the potential to shorten the new drug development cycle to approximately five to six years and reduce capital investment to around 1 billion Chinese yuan. Chen emphasized that AI presents significant opportunities for advancement in the pharmaceutical industry, and companies are eager to utilize this tool to drive innovation and development in the sector.
