BAIYUNSHAN PH (00874) saw its shares tumble nearly 6% in Hong Kong trading following the release of its interim results, with the stock down 5.64% to HK$14.22 at the time of writing, on a turnover of HK$61.63 million.

The company posted first-half revenue of RMB 42.09 billion, a marginal 0.6% year-on-year increase, while net profit attributable to shareholders fell 16.7% to RMB 2.10 billion. The earnings pressure was partly attributed to strategic adjustments, as the company boosted its R&D investment by 20.36% year-on-year, aiming to build a second growth curve through technological innovation, accepting short-term pain for long-term core competitiveness.

According to the financial report, BAIYUNSHAN PH is focusing its R&D efforts on five key therapeutic areas: oncology, chronic disease management, respiratory care, immunology, and urology. The company currently has over 160 projects in its pipeline, including 11 Class 1 innovative drug candidates, with two in Phase I clinical trials, four in Phase II, and one at the marketing authorization application stage.

Additionally, the subsidiary Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical Holdings Company Limited, which operates the natural beverage business under the Wanglaoji brand, continues to accelerate its international expansion efforts.
