Japanese stock markets are likely to open lower, tracking overnight losses on Wall Street.

Domestic semiconductor shares could be weighed down following another round of selling pressure on US chip stocks on Thursday.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropped 4.3%, with companies including SanDisk moving lower.

On the Singapore Exchange, Nikkei 225 index futures fell by 1,150 points to 65,855.

The Nikkei 225 index closed down 2.8% on Thursday at 66,835.54, marking its lowest closing level since July 8th.
