Against the backdrop of clear skies and bustling activity, Fuzhou Port in November presents a scene of thriving operations. Towering cranes move with precision, containers are neatly stacked, and bulk cargo flows seamlessly. At the Jiangyin Port Area, automated handling equipment showcases the port's advanced capabilities in smart logistics.

In October, the Fuzhou Port Jiangyin Port Area inaugurated its Empty Container Distribution Center and launched a fully intelligent container handling system. Six autonomous transport vehicles were delivered and put into operation, marking the implementation of an end-to-end smart handling system. This upgrade enhances the port's operational efficiency, infrastructure support, and service capacity.

With the new distribution center, Jiangyin Port has expanded its yard space by over 50,000 square meters, increasing empty container handling capacity to approximately 2.8 million TEUs. The facility integrates with existing yards to form a more efficient and responsive system, providing reliable container support for shipping companies and hinterland clients.

Strategically located near railway connections, the center extends services to inland regions such as Jiangxi and Hunan, reinforcing Fuzhou Port's role as a regional container hub under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The six intelligent guided vehicles (IGVs) deployed leverage 5G industrial internet, BeiDou high-precision positioning, and AI algorithms for autonomous navigation and obstacle detection. Integrated with CITOS operations, remote-controlled quay cranes, automated rail-mounted gantry cranes (ARMG), and smart gate systems, the port has achieved full-process automation from vessel operations to yard handling.

Currently, Jiangyin Port operates seven container berths (1-7#) with a total shoreline of 2,298 meters and an 860,000-square-meter yard, making it Fujian’s largest and most comprehensive container port.

Fuzhou Port Development Center emphasized plans to further advance smart and green port initiatives, optimize multimodal transport networks, and strengthen logistics connectivity to build a world-class deep-water port.

**Innovation Boosts Efficiency** Fuzhou Port’s innovation-driven approach has significantly improved operational performance. In early October, the 200,000-ton container vessel *MSC Vianna* docked at Jiangyin Port, where automated cranes and IGVs achieved an average handling rate of 30.3 moves per hour.

Ranked second globally in the 2024 Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), Fuzhou Port demonstrates strong growth potential.

In July, a dedicated rail service from Jiangxi’s Xiangtang Station delivered 66 containers to Jiangyin Port for seamless transshipment to Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and other Maritime Silk Road destinations. This marked the launch of integrated rail-sea intermodal operations, eliminating redundant yard handling and cutting per-container processing time from 4.5 to 2.25 hours, saving CNY 30 per box.

**Green Initiatives Take Center Stage** Fuzhou Port is also making strides in sustainability. On April 7, four new ARMGs equipped with AI vision and safety systems were deployed, bringing the total to 10 and enhancing automation.

The port’s “Green Port Alliance” has identified 10 exemplary smart and green projects, including the Luoyuan Bay Port’s “Star-rated Green Port” recognition. In July, 30 new energy-powered tractors were introduced, expected to save 1,200 tons of diesel annually and reduce carbon emissions by 3,500 tons.

By prioritizing intelligence and sustainability, Fuzhou Port is transitioning from labor-intensive operations to technology-driven efficiency, strengthening its global competitiveness.
