Bank of Japan policy board member Ayano Sato said in an interview with Kyodo News that she supports the policy of gradually adjusting interest rates, but wants to closely monitor changes in consumption and income.
Sato stated that the momentum of private consumption is not strong.
Sato also said she does not believe rate hikes should follow a fixed pace.
