After becoming Party Secretary of Bank of Guizhou (SEHK: 6199), Yang Hongjun has been exceptionally busy.

He has had to not only familiarize himself with the bank's internal management and operational affairs but also receive visitors from various parties and engage in discussions and exchanges with government and corporate representatives.

In June, Jiang Fangju, Party Secretary of the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone Working Committee and Party Secretary of Huaxi District, led a delegation to visit Bank of Guizhou and held discussions with Yang Hongjun and others; in August, Shi Qilin, Deputy Secretary of the Qianxinan Prefecture Party Committee and Acting Governor, led a team to Bank of Guizhou for coordination, with Yang Hongjun attending the discussion; and in September, Yang Hongjun met with a delegation led by Luo Andong, Party Secretary and President of the Guizhou Branch of Postal Savings Bank of China, where the two sides held discussions on interbank exchange and collaboration and broadening cooperation areas.

In addition, Yang Hongjun also attended the Guizhou Province Financial Services for the Baijiu Industry Development Financing Matchmaking Meeting.

At the meeting, he introduced that as of now, Bank of Guizhou has extended nearly 20 billion yuan in credit, continuously supporting the growth and expansion of the Baijiu industry.

It is evident that Yang Hongjun is diligent and dedicated, striving to drive Bank of Guizhou forward.

Currently, Yang Hongjun's qualification as Chairman of Bank of Guizhou has received regulatory approval, and the governance responsibilities at the board level have been clarified, meaning that a new management cycle for Bank of Guizhou has officially begun.

Yang Hongjun, now 58 years old, previously worked at the Qiandongnan Branch of Agricultural Bank of China, the Qianxinan Branch of Agricultural Bank of China, and the Guizhou Provincial Branch of Agricultural Bank of China, and also participated in the establishment of Guizhou Rural Commercial United Bank, working hard every step of the way.

Yang Hongjun has more than thirty years of banking management experience and possesses considerable capability in building the top-level architecture of local rural finance and institutional integration and operations.

And Bank of Guizhou is precisely in need of a new, strong leader to guide its new stage of development.

As of the end of June 2026, Bank of Guizhou's total assets stood at 633.786 billion yuan, up 3.83% from the beginning of the year.

Total loans and advances issued amounted to 391.521 billion yuan, an increase of 3.26% from the beginning of the year.

During the same period, the bank's total liabilities were 580.582 billion yuan, up 4.25% from the beginning of the year.

Deposits absorbed totaled 420.387 billion yuan, up 9.12% from the beginning of the year.

Bank of Guizhou's deposit growth rate exceeded its loan growth rate, indicating stronger liability stability, but pressure on asset-side deployment has become prominent.

From a long-term perspective, Bank of Guizhou needs to enhance its loan deployment capacity.

In addition, Bank of Guizhou still needs to control the scale of non-performing loans.

As of the first half of 2026, Bank of Guizhou's non-performing loan balance was 6.564 billion yuan, with a non-performing loan ratio of 1.68%, up 0.03 percentage points from the beginning of the year.

At the profitability level, Bank of Guizhou has returned to a trend of both revenue and net profit growth.

In the first half of 2026, Bank of Guizhou achieved operating income of 6.18 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 78 million yuan, or 1.28%, and net profit of 2.241 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 112 million yuan, or 5.26%, with revenue growth lagging behind net profit growth.

Breaking down the income structure, Bank of Guizhou's net interest income was 5.173 billion yuan, up 5.17% year-on-year, accounting for 83.69% of operating income.

As for non-interest income, there is still room for improvement.

In the first half of 2026, Bank of Guizhou's net fee and commission income was 127 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 17 million yuan, or 11.67%; net income from investment securities was 678 million yuan, down 21.90% year-on-year; and other operating income was 12 million yuan, down 74.30% year-on-year.

However, Bank of Guizhou's net trading income was 191 million yuan, up 50.32% year-on-year, mainly due to significant unrealized gains in the fair value of bond investments compared with the same period last year.

The cost side also warrants attention, as Bank of Guizhou's operating expenses have grown faster than its operating income.

In the first half of 2026, Bank of Guizhou's operating expenses were 1.682 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 119 million yuan, or 7.59%.

Among these, employee costs were 1.109 billion yuan, up 11% year-on-year.

However, it can be seen that Bank of Guizhou's number of employees is declining.

As of the end of June 2026, Bank of Guizhou had 5,536 contracted employees on its register, a decrease of 12 from 5,548 at the end of the previous year.

At the same time, management compensation is also being compressed.

In the first half of 2026, Bank of Guizhou's key management personnel compensation was 4.321 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 562,000 yuan, or 11.5%.

How to strengthen intermediary business and control business and labor costs in the future are all important tasks for new leader Yang Hongjun.
