Several social media users have recently reported that hotel prices in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, spiked noticeably during the upcoming National Day holiday period. One poster claimed that a room typically priced around 60 yuan on ordinary days saw its peak holiday rate increase by roughly tenfold.

On September 21 and 22, a reporter verified these claims by checking booking platforms based on screenshots shared online. A hotel located near the Taoxichuan Cultural and Creative District listed its basic queen room at a minimum weekday price of 67 yuan per night, but during the National Day holiday, the same room type fluctuated significantly, reaching a top listed price of 743 yuan per night. That represents an approximate tenfold increase. October 6 was comparatively cheaper at 225 yuan per night.

A front desk representative from that hotel explained that rooms are already available for online booking and that customers can freely choose their preferred room type. The price shown on the platform is the final rate, and the offline walk-in price is also in the 700-yuan range. The staff member added that holiday rates naturally differ from regular days and are higher, while the low weekday pricing may be the result of platform subsidies. They suggested that guests could consider other options if the price does not meet their expectations.

A check of other hotels and guesthouses in the surrounding area revealed a common pattern: holiday prices were notably elevated, with October 1 through 5 being the most expensive, followed by a gradual decline after October 5. For instance, one guesthouse listed the same room type at 1,136 yuan during the holiday, which quickly dropped to 121 yuan after the break ended. Another inn set its holiday rate at 603 yuan compared to a weekday price of 81 yuan, while a different guesthouse charged 687 yuan for the holiday and reduced it to 115 yuan afterward.

A staff member from one of those guesthouses acknowledged that the business typically relies on online orders and that platform prices are authoritative. Since the period surrounding the National Day holiday is considered off-season, rooms are often discounted, but holiday pricing is raised to sustain operations. Meanwhile, a front desk employee at another guesthouse noted that offline prices have not yet been finalized. Supply and demand dynamics cause significant rate swings during holiday periods. If the platform shows a price above 1,000 yuan, the staff advised travelers not to book yet, as it might be an anti-spam protection price. Based on last year's rates, they estimate the final holiday price to be around 700 to 800 yuan, though adjustments will follow market conditions.

When contacted by a reporter posing as a tourist, the Jingdezhen Market Supervision Administration stated that ahead of the holiday, the bureau had already issued a formal notice regulating market pricing practices. Officials have dispatched staff to various districts to caution high-priced hotels and strongly encourage businesses to set reasonable rates. Any verified illegal pricing activities will face strict enforcement action.
