China National Offshore Oil Corporation's Tianjin branch announced that the Bonan oil field group, part of the Bohai oil field - China's largest crude oil production base, has achieved cumulative crude oil production exceeding 100 million tons, effectively ensuring national energy security and meeting public energy demands.

As one of the main production areas of the Bohai oil field, the Bonan oil field group is located in the southern waters of the Bohai Sea. Since the first oil field began production in 1989, the group has developed 16 operational oil and gas fields with cumulative proven petroleum geological reserves exceeding 1 billion tons, featuring 59 offshore platforms and over 1,100 oil and water wells.

The Bonan oil field group presents significant challenges due to its complex geological structure, diverse reservoir types, and extremely difficult exploration and development conditions. In response, CNOOC has maintained its commitment to technological innovation, successfully overcoming multiple world-class technical challenges including deep-buried buried hill hydrocarbon accumulation mechanisms and shallow stratigraphic exploration technologies in depression zones.

Additionally, CNOOC research personnel have initiated specialized old well review projects to enhance reserve utilization rates in mature oil fields. Through innovative technological developments, these initiatives ensure sustained high-efficiency and stable production from aging oil fields.
