Zai Lab Limited announced that its Board of Directors resolved on 18 May 2026 to end the tenure of President and Chief Operating Officer Josh Smiley, effective the same day. Smiley’s last day with the company will be 22 May 2026.

All responsibilities previously managed by Smiley have been reassigned to Chairperson, Founder and Chief Executive Officer Samantha Du, alongside other members of the management team.

Under the terms of his existing employment agreement, Smiley will receive severance benefits, contingent upon signing a customary release.

The leadership change was disclosed in a Form 8-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on 21 May 2026 and simultaneously published on the company’s website. The filing was also released in Hong Kong as an overseas regulatory announcement in accordance with local listing requirements.
