On October 10, a report from the Bayannur City Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bureau confirmed that the fully mechanized smart corn cultivation technology in the Hetao Irrigation District has achieved a high-yield breakthrough. Following a joint on-site harvest yield assessment by experts in crop production, agricultural machinery, plant protection, and agrometeorology from the autonomous region, the average corn yield in the core demonstration area reached 1,294.87 kilograms per mu, surpassing the preset target and marking the maturity and stability of the fully mechanized smart corn cultivation technology.
The measured plots were located at the No. 6 Branch of Linhe Farm, with a total demonstration area of 260 mu. To ensure the scientific accuracy and credibility of the yield data, the expert panel employed the "checkerboard sampling method," uniformly selecting five representative sampling points across the demonstration area. Through standardized procedures including on-site harvesting and weighing, thorough removal of impurities, and precise moisture content measurement, the final core yield data was converted to a standard moisture content of 14%, effectively avoiding data deviations caused by uneven crop growth within the plots and ensuring that the results objectively reflect the overall cultivation performance.
It is understood that the checkerboard sampling method is a uniform point-distribution sampling technique suitable for flat terrain and medium-sized plots with differentiated crop distribution. Its principle involves dividing the sampling area into a grid and taking samples at each grid intersection, ensuring sample coverage and representativeness. It is a commonly used scientific method for modern agricultural yield verification.
"Going forward, we will continue to intensify the promotion and application of fully mechanized smart corn cultivation technology, steadily expanding its coverage in suitable areas of the Hetao Irrigation District. Relying on intelligent and mechanized integrated planting techniques, we will continuously strengthen the grain and oil production capacity of the irrigation district, help farmers achieve stable yields and increased incomes, and contribute to building a solid foundation for regional grain production and safeguarding national food security," said a responsible person from the Bayannur City Modern Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development Center.
