During the National Day holiday, a scenic spot in Mianyang, Sichuan called "Yi Xi You Park" unexpectedly went viral because of the "abstract" architectural style of its structures, with netizens joking, "I refunded my Disney ticket and insisted on coming to Mianyang."

The park was teased by netizens as "too abstract." Photo/Internet. During the National Day holiday, the park attracted many visitors. Photo/Internet. Reporters noticed that multiple visitors filmed videos and said some of the buildings in the park had an abstract style, with some even so "sloppy" as to be funny: "It's ugly, but really fun," "Monkey Brother is so hungry he's skinny, Nezha has a bald back of the head," "a random dolphin crashing in"... Some also said that most of the workers in the park are elderly people from surrounding villages, which can also provide some employment opportunities for nearby farmers. "The art of the older generation still has something to it," one netizen commented.

On October 8, Mr. He, the person in charge of Yi Xi You Park, told reporters that the park ticket price is a 20 yuan per person "all-inclusive pass," and young people under 20 are free. He also said that Yi Xi You Park has existed for more than ten years. "I am 58 years old this year. When the park has events, it will hire part-time workers ranging from seven or eight people to two or three people. I am the only formal employee," Mr. He said. He introduced that these part-time farmers have an average age of over 60, with the oldest in their 70s, and they usually participate in performances or do cleaning work. "I used to do landscape design. The mountains, water, and stones here are very good. I think Journey to the West reflects a real society, and Journey to the West culture is good too. I built this place, on the one hand, to show everyone this piece of natural landscape, and on the other hand, to embody the spirit of persisting in adversity and make people stronger," Mr. He said.

Mentioning the abstract style, Mr. He said he hoped to highlight a different characteristic, and also wanted to have some inspiration in the design, containing a certain culture, and did not want it to be seen through at a glance. "For example, for the fox spirit sculpture in the park, I made her figure especially good, but only made her hands ugly, because she is a thief who stole someone else's affection," Mr. He said. Mentioning expenses, Mr. He said the park's income is okay. In addition, he also runs an orchard and a fish pond, and in his early years he also contracted construction outside and earned some money. "During the 2026 National Day holiday, the park had thousands of visitors every day, including many young people, and many people asked to take photos with me. I also hope more young people will come," Mr. He said.

According to Qichacha information, Mr. He's Mianyang Yi Xi You Cultural Tourism Development Co., Ltd. was established in 2022, with registered capital of 500,000 yuan.
