The China Patent Award stands as the most authoritative and influential national recognition in China's intellectual property landscape, with winning achievements representing the pinnacle of domestic technological innovation. The China Patent Gold Award was conferred for the invention titled "A Functionalized Polyurethane and Its Preparation Method and Application," developed by the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This breakthrough fundamentally dismantles the long-standing monopoly held by foreign chemical giants over durable medical polyurethane elastomers, directly tackling the most critical "bottleneck" constraint in China's high-end medical device industry chain.

The Industrial Design Gold Award went to the "EMU Leading Car" (High-Speed Train Front Car), designed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. This design deeply integrates regional cultural elements, traditional Chinese aesthetic principles, and the practical functional requirements of modern rail transit. It has successfully propelled Chinese rail transit equipment into the European market, serving as a shining example of Belt and Road cooperation in the rail transportation sector.

The China Patent Silver Award was granted to the "Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) with Mode Filtering Function and Its Preparation Method," developed by the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. VCSELs are widely applied across high-speed communications, sensing, and imaging, offering faster communication rates, higher imaging resolution, and more precise atomic manipulation, positioning them as a new quality productive force for future 6G communication, autonomous driving LiDAR, and quantum sensing. This core patent has secured support from 30 projects, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's high-quality development program and key national R&D plans, attracting 293 million yuan in project funding. Notably, the patent passed through the Changchun Intellectual Property Protection Center's expedited pre-examination process and received authorization in just 62 days, dramatically shortening the cycle for commercializing technological outcomes.

The Industrial Design Silver Award was claimed by the "Automobile (Pentium Xiao Ma)," developed by FAW Pentium Automobile Co., Ltd. This compact pure electric vehicle, built around a design philosophy of "cuteness, playability, customizability, and reliability," has become a phenomenon in the A00-segment market. With a practical range of 222 kilometers across all variants and energy consumption of just 8.8 kWh per 100 kilometers, it leverages FAW's manufacturing pedigree to balance safety and practicality. Bolstered by its attractive design and robust product performance, cumulative sales have surpassed 200,000 units, earning widespread market recognition and establishing itself as a preferred choice for national premium mini-vehicle commuting.

In recent years, under the leadership and strategic deployment of the provincial government and the Provincial Market Supervision Department (Provincial Intellectual Property Office), Changchun has persistently advanced its "Intellectual Property-Strong City" strategy. The city operates with a dual-drive approach, combining the construction of an IP operations city with the development of an IP protection hub, thereby optimizing innovation services across the entire chain. First, the city emphasizes policy guidance and forward-looking strategic planning. Leveraging funds from the intellectual property operations city program, it supports enterprises in collaborating with universities and research institutes on "patent navigation plus high-value patent cultivation" initiatives around key dominant industries, ensuring technical relevance and strategic synergy within patent portfolios, while proactively securing core patents to establish technological barriers.

Second, Changchun has consolidated service resources to provide comprehensive full-chain coverage. An intellectual property services cluster has been established, attracting and nurturing 114 IP service institutions spanning operations, agency services, certification, integrated solutions, finance, and legal counsel. A specialized management service platform has been developed for diverse regional users, achieving seamless integration of public services, government services, and market-oriented services across the entire chain. Third, the city provides precision pre-examination services for robust protection. Dedicated expert teams are assembled through multi-party coordination, delivering one-on-one tailored services supported by batch review processes to accelerate the protection of innovations. Post-authorization follow-ups and extended support are maintained to expedite the conversion of patent value into industrial competitiveness.

Looking ahead, the Changchun Municipal Market Supervision Administration (Municipal Intellectual Property Office) will treat this achievement as a new starting point, continuing to deepen the construction of an intellectual property powerhouse. The city will intensify cultivation efforts around core industrial chains, guiding more innovation entities to prioritize patent portfolio development and commercialization, while comprehensively optimizing the IP ecosystem to accelerate the transformation of innovative momentum into competitive industrial advantages. It will also standardize cross-regional patent pre-examination services for innovation entities within the metropolitan area, establish an integrated rapid IP coordination and protection system for the Changchun metropolitan circle, and accelerate high-value patent development and authorization, injecting robust intellectual property momentum into regional industrial upgrading and high-quality development.
