Wall Street Feud: Morgan Stanley Locks Rival Analyst's Account Over Chart, Prompting Fiery Takedown

A minor storm has erupted between international investment banks. A well-known market strategist had their X account locked after sharing a chart from a rival firm, Morgan Stanley, due to a copyright complaint. The strategist, clearly frustrated, took to the platform to publicly criticize the bank, vowing to boycott sharing any of its content in the future.

Ryan Detrick, Chief Market Strategist at Carson Group, revealed on X that he had shared a chart on earnings per share (EPS) back in April. The chart was created by Morgan Stanley's own strategist, Mike Wilson. Following this, Morgan Stanley filed a copyright complaint with X, resulting in Detrick's account being locked. In his tweet, he noted that he believes numerous other users who shared the same chart also faced account lockdowns.

Detrick's displeasure with Morgan Stanley was palpable, and his language was direct and sharp. He described the bank's complaint as a "5th grade level complaint," implying that their actions were petty and childish. He further argued that Morgan Stanley's move showed a fundamental misunderstanding of industry norms, saying, "I thought all publicity was good publicity." Detrick made it unequivocally clear that this would be his final time sharing anything from Morgan Stanley, and he warned others to be aware of the situation.
