Anhui Province has announced plans to expand its smart robot industry chain to over 100 billion yuan (RMB) by 2027. The initiative was revealed during a press conference held by the Anhui Provincial Government Information Office.

On October 27, the world's first full-size bionic educational robot made its debut in Hefei, Anhui, collaborating with professional teachers to deliver a science education lesson.

The recently issued "Anhui Smart Robot Industry Development Action Plan (2025–2027)" outlines ambitious goals: by 2027, the province aims to cultivate more than 10 leading domestic enterprises in specialized sectors, achieve breakthroughs in over 100 key technologies and flagship products, and exceed 100 billion yuan in total industry chain revenue. By 2030, Anhui plans to establish a national-level advanced manufacturing cluster for smart robots, positioning itself as a globally influential hub for the industry.

Since 2013, Anhui's robot industry has grown from just over 10 companies with annual output below 1 billion yuan and fewer than 1,000 units produced, to more than 500 enterprises generating over 60 billion yuan in revenue and manufacturing over 30,000 units in 2024.

Strategically, Anhui is prioritizing smart robotics, focusing on building a globally competitive industrial base. The province has already developed a "dual-core driven, multi-point supported" industrial structure. Hefei leads in humanoid robotics, covering the full supply chain from chips and algorithms to complete systems and applications, while cities like Ma'anshan and Bengbu excel in vision models and smart sensors.

In terms of innovation, Anhui has achieved industry-first breakthroughs in foundational robot technologies, advanced motion control systems, and leading-edge developments in multimodal AI and bionic dexterity. The province has also established research platforms such as the University of Science and Technology of China’s Humanoid Robotics Institute and Anhui University’s Embodied Intelligence Research Institute.

For humanoid robots, Anhui plans to develop 24 models, 12 AI models, and 14 core components by 2025, with commercial orders surpassing 100 million yuan—marking a critical step toward large-scale adoption.
