At approximately 8:40 AM on September 16th, a landslide struck Shidaguan Village, Diexi Township, Maoxian County, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The slide, estimated at 800,000 cubic meters, partially blocked a section of National Highway 213. However, due to diligent patrols, precise monitoring and early warnings, local authorities successfully evacuated residents and enforced traffic controls before the event, preventing casualties among 255 individuals who were under imminent threat.

The successful prevention began on July 21st, when geological hazard monitors in Shidaguan Village detected sporadic rockfalls at the mountaintop above the operation area of the Ninth Bid Section of the Chuanwen Expressway, specifically at the Musuobao Tunnel. The finding was reported immediately. In response, the Maoxian County Natural Resources Bureau quickly dispatched resident technical personnel to verify the situation at the site and instructed the construction unit to strengthen monitoring efforts and refine the existing disaster prevention and evacuation plan.

Further sporadic rockfalls occurred at the same location on July 25th. The bureau once again guided the construction company to install six sets of automated monitoring equipment, including crack meters and surface displacement meters, enabling round-the-clock dynamic surveillance. Between August 20th and 24th, as rockfalls became more frequent, the resident technical team analyzed the monitoring data and identified increased slope displacement and expanding cracks. Acting decisively, the county bureau, together with the township government, organized the evacuation of 139 residents from 45 households as well as 116 construction workers who were at risk. Simultaneously, they implemented traffic restrictions on the relevant sections of National Highway 213 and construction access roads.

At 8:40 AM on September 16th, the large-scale landslide occurred at the site. Owing to meticulous pre-disaster inspections, accurate monitoring and early warning, resolute decision-making, and complete evacuation procedures, no casualties were reported.
