With the "14th Five-Year Plan" bearing abundant fruit and the "15th Five-Year Plan" on the horizon, how can the battle for industrial transformation and upgrading be won? How can a modern industrial system with Yunnan's distinctive advantages be constructed? Focusing on advantageous sectors, Yunnan is building characteristic key industries through full-chain development. In the Zhaotong Hydro-Silicon Integrated Industrial Park, workers at Yunnan Hoshine Silicon Industry are busy turning silicon rock into gold. "We no longer just 'sell raw materials'; we are building a full industrial chain from silicon ore to photovoltaic modules," said the company executive with pride. These scenes epitomize the province's efforts to strengthen, optimize, and expand resource-based industries by leveraging its natural endowments. Since the beginning of the year, the province has further focused on driving five key industries, including deep processing of non-ferrous metals like aluminum and copper, promoting transformation and upgrading across the entire chain. As a bright name card of Yunnan's agricultural economy, the plateau characteristic agriculture sector is shining anew, having formed an industrial system in recent years focused on tea, fresh cut flowers, coffee, nuts, and others, with the full-chain output value of the "1+10+3+N" key industries nearing 3 trillion yuan. In a coffee garden in Simao District, Pu'er City, farmer Zhang, picking fresh cherries, smiled and explained, "Before, we only knew how to sell green beans. Now we've learned to 'extract every bit of value,' turning beans into drip bags, cold brew concentrates, and even the fruit skin can become tea bags. My family's income increased by 30% last year." Across the province, small coffee has become a big industry, driving the provincial industry scale from less than 100 billion yuan to nearly 800 billion yuan within three years. The "apple revolution" in Zhaoyang District, Zhaotong City, is equally dynamic. Once dominated by tobacco and energy, Yunnan's industrial landscape is now seeing the rapid rise of "new forces" like biomedicine, new materials, and advanced equipment manufacturing. Inside Yunnan Baiyao's smart factory, toothpaste production lines operate at high speed, with new products selling out upon release. In the workshops of Sino-Platinum Metals Co., Ltd., automotive exhaust purification catalysts are loaded onto trucks bound for domestic and international markets. Special cables produced by Kunming Cable Group are widely used in major national projects like high-speed rail and nuclear power. "We will focus on three key areas to build a modern industrial system with Yunnan's characteristic advantages," said Chen Ming, Director of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission. On July 9, 2025, Luxi County and Yanshan County joined hands with the Weiqiao Entrepreneurship Group to co-build a green, low-carbon demonstration industrial park and an innovation industrial park. Upon full operation, this landmark key project will propel Yunnan's electrolytic aluminum capacity to the second highest in the nation. "The landing of a major industrial project drives the development of a cluster and boosts regional growth," said a relevant official from the Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
