On January 28, the Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Statistics and the Wuhan Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics released the economic performance of Wuhan City for 2025. According to the unified accounting results of the gross domestic product (GDP) for Hubei province's prefectures and cities, the preliminary calculation shows that Wuhan's regional GDP reached 2,214.735 billion yuan in 2025. Calculated at constant prices, this represents a year-on-year increase of 5.6%.

Statistical data reveal that in 2025, the value added of Wuhan's primary industry was 48.121 billion yuan, an increase of 3.8%. The value added of the secondary industry was 658.972 billion yuan, growing by 5.0%, while the tertiary industry's value added reached 1,507.642 billion yuan, up 5.9%.

Overall, over the past year, Wuhan's industrial sector was strongly led by high-tech manufacturing, while the service industry and consumer market exhibited vibrant activity. Investment, foreign trade, and finance provided multi-point support, residents' incomes steadily improved, and new achievements were made in high-quality development.

According to statistics, in 2025, the value-added of industrial enterprises above the designated size in Wuhan increased by 6.2% compared to the previous year. Among the 35 major industrial categories for enterprises above the designated size, over 70% achieved growth. Industries such as computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing, and automobile manufacturing served as core pillars. The cultivation of new drivers of growth yielded outstanding results, with the value-added of high-tech manufacturing enterprises above the designated size surging by 16.6% year-on-year. The output of emerging products like 3D printing equipment, new energy vehicles, and industrial robots increased significantly, highlighting the trend of industrial structure upgrading towards higher-end and smarter production.

Within this sector, the value added of transport, storage, and postal services increased by 9.6%. Looking ahead to the "16th Five-Year Plan" period, Wuhan has set the goal of reaching a GDP of 3 trillion yuan.

To achieve the aforementioned goals, Wuhan is speeding up the construction of a "965" modern industrial system. It is promoting the interconnected development of the "Five Valleys" - the World Optics Valley, the World Auto Valley, China Net Valley, China Star Valley, and China Pharma Valley - aiming to basically build itself into a manufacturing powerhouse, quality powerhouse, and brand powerhouse with international competitiveness, as well as a national-level modern service industry center and a first-tier digital and intelligent economy city.
