According to a report released by Baosheng in collaboration with PwC Switzerland, titled the 2025 "Baosheng Family Barometer," Hong Kong and Singapore have collectively become regional hubs for family offices in Asia, with a significant increase in the number of single-family offices (SFOs). As of 2024, Singapore has established over 2,000 family offices, while Hong Kong has more than 2,700. With the maturation of generational wealth and family members dispersing globally, the Singapore and Hong Kong markets have emerged as the most vibrant regional hubs in Asia, streamlining complex affairs and establishing lasting legacies for affluent families. The report notes that both locations boast robust financial infrastructure and clear regulatory frameworks. Notably, Hong Kong has a mature financial ecosystem, attracting ultra-high-net-worth individuals from across Asia due to its proximity to mainland China and international schools. Singapore, on the other hand, offers advantages such as political stability, legal certainty, and economic appeal, particularly attracting clients from Asia and the Indian subcontinent. The three primary topics of focus for wealthy families in Asia include: 1) inheritance planning, 2) personal and family development opportunities, and 3) establishing family legacies, indicating a shift in wealth planning from simple inheritance arrangements to long-term strategies based on values. The report highlights that the structure of family offices in the Asia-Pacific region continues to professionalize, with families outsourcing functions such as asset management (73%) and investment management (63%), while retaining core control over wealth and inheritance planning and philanthropic advisory. Investment topics are concentrated on mitigating geopolitical risks, combating inflation, and real estate investment, with societal concerns focusing on taxation, intergenerational wealth transfer, and political stability.
