US Market Movers: Memory Chip Stocks Broadly Decline, Seagate Technology (STX.US) Falls Over 6%

On Monday, memory chip concept stocks experienced a broad decline, with Seagate Technology PLC (STX.US) dropping over 6%, Western Digital (WDC.US) falling more than 5%, SK hynix (SKHY.US) declining over 4%, Micron Technology (MU.US) sliding more than 3%, and SanDisk (SNDK.US) losing over 1%.

Morgan Stanley has upgraded its rating on the Korean stock market to "overweight," stating that the recent severe deleveraging appears to be nearing its end. The KOSPI's valuation has dropped to historically extreme lows, offering investors a more attractive entry point. The bank set a target price of 9,000 points, implying a 36% upside from current levels.

Morgan Stanley noted that the KOSPI's forward price-to-earnings ratio has fallen to 5.7 times, a historically low level. Hedge fund deleveraging is approximately 75% complete, and the size of leveraged ETFs has evaporated by 70% from their peak, significantly improving the stock structure. Capital management trends, HBM4 pricing, and the iPhone 18 release cycle are identified as the three core catalysts for the next phase of the Korean stock market's rise.
