According to industry reports from yesterday, Samsung Electronics is set to equip its upcoming Galaxy S27 series smartphones with triple rear cameras across all models. This marks a shift from the previous Galaxy S26 Ultra, which featured four rear lenses.

Industry insiders indicate that Samsung Electronics has communicated the camera module plan for the Galaxy S27 series to its supply chain partners. The core change involves reducing the rear camera count on the Ultra model from four to three. The previously included 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lens will be removed, while the 50-megapixel 5x periscope telephoto lens will remain.

Meanwhile, Samsung plans to incorporate a 12-megapixel 3x telephoto lens in the Galaxy S27 Pro model. The rumored imaging configurations for specific models are as follows: The camera suppliers for this series are expected to include Samsung Electronics, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, NAMUGA, Partron, Powerlogics, and Sunny Optical. Industry observers suggest that Samsung's move is aimed at curbing production costs by reducing one camera module amid a significant rise in semiconductor component prices.
