Yintai District, Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province: Early-Maturing Apples Rush to Market, Re-entering Southern Markets

"I grow 7 acres of apples, with 2 acres of early-maturing Honey Crisp that can produce about 7,000 jin; plus 2 acres of Yuhua and 3 acres of late Fuji varieties, totaling over 20,000 jin in production," said Bi Cangming excitedly on the morning of August 24th in his orchard in Jijiayuan Village, Guangyang Town, Yintai District, Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province.

The apple harvest has also expanded the "business territory" of apple broker Lu Chunyan. As a "bridge" connecting production areas with markets, she began purchasing early-maturing apples from late July. So far, she has shipped 400,000 jin to Zhejiang, Hunan, Hubei, Fujian and other provinces. These days, she is collecting Honey Crisp varieties. "Our Yintai apples have high sugar content and good fruit appearance, making them highly recognized in the market!" The excitement was clearly visible on her face as well.

The ability of Yintai apples to "go out" is inseparable from Yintai District's long-term deep cultivation of the fruit industry. In recent years, the local government has closely followed the approach of "full industry chain, optimized structure, clustering, and high quality," promoting variety optimization, quality improvement, brand building, and standardized production, driving the entire apple industry chain upgrade. The district has successively won 45 honors including "China's Apple Township" and "National Top 30 Counties in Modern Apple Industry."

Zhang Ting, Director of Yintai District Fruit Industry Information Center, introduced that this year, the district's early and mid-season apple planting area is approximately 18,000 acres, with an expected output of about 20,000 tons, mainly including Gala, Huashuo, Qincui, Honey Crisp, Yuhua Zaofu and other varieties. Late-maturing apples will also ripen successively in mid-September, featuring market-recognized varieties such as Fuji, Ruixue, and Ruixiang Red.

The staggered market entry of early, mid, and late-maturing apples not only avoids sales pressure from concentrated market entry but also allows consumers to enjoy fresh, quality apples at different times, better meeting diversified market demands.
