On December 19, Fliggy's "2026 New Year Holiday Travel Trends Report" revealed a strong consumer willingness to travel, driven by the "take 3 days off for an 8-day holiday" strategy. The market is characterized by "better and more diverse experiences."

As of now, the average spending per traveler during the holiday has increased by 10% year-over-year, while the number of bookings per person has risen by 9%. In Beijing, chartered car rentals surged 107%, packaged tours grew over 8-fold, and airport/station transfers climbed 55%.

Demographic trends highlight "new segments expanding and core groups upgrading." Fliggy data shows that post-2005 travelers ("Gen Z") recorded the fastest growth at 130% year-over-year, demonstrating strong potential among younger consumers. Meanwhile, travelers born in the 1990s remain the dominant group, accounting for 40% of bookings, with a 17% increase in average spending per order—reflecting their higher willingness to pay for premium services and "self-reward" consumption.

Travel preferences are shifting toward personalized experiences and New Year's Eve celebrations. Aurora viewing and pet-friendly travel options have seen a remarkable 200% surge in popularity. Additionally, searches for New Year's Eve activities—including concerts, fireworks displays, and light shows—rose 58% year-over-year, signaling growing enthusiasm for festive celebrations.
