On August 3, 2026, Mr. Wu Qing, Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), attended the listing ceremony for the 5-year RMB government bond futures on the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) and delivered a keynote speech. In his address, Chairman Wu unveiled a series of new initiatives aimed at deepening pragmatic cooperation and fostering closer synergistic development between the two markets.
During his visit to Hong Kong, Chairman Wu paid a courtesy call on Mr. John Lee Ka-chiu, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He also met with Mr. Paul Chan Mo-po, the Financial Secretary of Hong Kong; Mr. Wong Tin-yau, Chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC); Ms. Julia Leung Fung-yee, Chief Executive Officer of the SFC; Mr. Carlson Tong Ka-shing, Chairman of HKEX; and Ms. Bonnie Chan Yiting, Chief Executive Officer of HKEX. The discussions covered topics such as deepening pragmatic cooperation between the capital markets of the two places and consolidating and enhancing Hong Kong's status as an international financial center.
Additionally, Chairman Wu conducted an on-site research visit to the Northern Metropolis development area in Hong Kong.
